Teresiah Simelane

Ms. Teresiah Simelane is the General Manager of Enterprise Development at The Innovation Hub, The innovation agency of the Gauteng Province, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Gauteng Growth and Development Agency. She earned her Bachelor of Law at UNISA and a Master of Science in Microbiology at University of Limpopo. She is also an admitted Attorney of the South African High Court. Ms. Simelane has 16 years worth of working experience in the innovation sphere, enterprise development, management of business incubation, management of intellectual property and contracts, commercialisation of innovations and corporate law. During her working experience at the Agricultural Research Council, The Innovation Fund, Technology innovation Agency (TIA) and Adams & Adams, she had a good fortune of discovering the importance of innovations,conducting Intellectual Property and legal due diligence, identifying opportunities for investment within various sectors including ICT, advanced manufacturing, green technologies and biosciences, Including serving on investment committees. In her current position, at The Innovation Hub, she serves on the executive committee of the Innovation Hub and oversees management of three business incubators namely; Maxum Smart, Maxum Media and Maxum Digital. She also oversees a business unit that provides commercialisation support, IP and legal support to more than 300 startups with innovations in ICT, advanced manufacturing, energy, water and waste management, health and agricultural sectors. She is driven by the objectives of increasing the success rate of startups, creation of employment, improving the livelihood and quality of life of South African citizens.
